About the Role

As part of our Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program , you’ll be a vital support for individuals who have experienced violence, including sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking. Your role will ensure that each patient feels safe, valued, and understood throughout their healing journey.

Shifts: Varying shifts from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM.

Your Responsibilities

In this impactful role, you will:

• Conduct timely and accurate clinical assessments and documentation for patients affected by violence.
• Collect forensic evidence and maintain the chain of custody.
• Develop safety plans and provide resources for follow-up medical care.
• Collaborate with medical staff, law enforcement, and advocacy groups.
• Participate in an on-call schedule, responding to designated facilities within one hour.
• Complete clinical experiences as outlined by the SANE course and coordinator.
• Perform speculum exams and pediatric assessments under supervision.
• Utilize forensic evidence collection kits effectively.
• Travel to other Cleveland Clinic facilities as needed.
• Engage in continuing education as a Sexual Assault Nurse.
• Document findings clearly and provide court testimony when required.
• Participate in community awareness programs and professional organizations.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of an IAFN approved SANE Adolescent/Adult Course within 60 days of hire.
• Completion of an IAFN approved SANE Pediatric course within one year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• One year of recent experience as an RN.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Experience in Trauma, Women’s Health, or Pediatrics.

Physical Requirements

• Light Work - Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
• Job may require walking, standing, or sitting while pushing and pulling controls.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Gloves, Masks, Gowns as needed.
