Job Description Summary Tutors work in the Academic Success Center (ASC) or assigned department, both one-on-one and in small groups, to help students better understand course concepts, become independent learners, and succeed in and out of the classroom. In addition, the tutor will share learning, studying, and test-taking strategies and perform some clerical duties to support the functions of the ASC. Tutoring subjects include accounting, basic computer concepts, economics, English, English for academic purposes, math, science, and modern foreign language.
The ideal candidate must possess excellent time management, customer service, and verbal and written communication skills. Variable work hours may include evenings and weekends up to 27.5 per week, and work schedules are arranged on a semester-by-semester basis and are dependent on the department's needs.

Minimum Education: - High School Diploma or equivalent accredited GED.
Minimum Experience/Training: - Tutoring experience in subject area strongly preferred.
Essential Functions: - Other - 20%: Conducts individual, small group, and/or remote tutoring sessions.
- Other - 15%: Assess, assists, and encourages students during tutoring sessions.
- Other - 10%: Monitors tutor appointment schedules.
- Other - 10%: Assists students with making appointments.
- Other - 10%: Assists in the development of workshops and exam reviews.
- Other - 10%: Facilitates group study sessions (workshops, exam reviews, etc.).
- Other - 10%: Participates in tutor training sessions and department meetings.
- Other - 5%: Represents the ASC during classroom visitations, orientations, and campus-wide events.
- Other - 5%: Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Advanced levels and proficiency in the subject areas to be tutored
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
- Ability to work with students from diverse educational, cultural, religious, and social backgrounds
- Must be available to work a minimum of 10-hours weekly
